Dr. Sumith Madhavarapu was born and raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He completed college at Baylor University. After college, he worked in emergency rooms around the Forth Worth, Texas, area before continuing on to medical school in Denver, Colorado. After medical school, he pursued his pediatric residency training at Connecticut Children’s in Hartford, Connecticut.
After residency, he remained at Connecticut Children’s taking care of hospitalized children as a pediatric hospitalist. He eventually moved to Houston, Texas, to be with his now wife and continued his work as a pediatric hospitalist.
Over time, Dr. Madhavarapu developed both an interest in sleep medicine and outpatient medicine to connect more with his patients. He completed a Sleep Medicine fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine where he trained in adult and pediatric sleep disorders. After completing fellowship, he joined Blue Fish Pediatrics in January of 2021. In general, he believes in a coordinated team approach between families and medical providers to establish the best care for children.
Dr. Madhavarapu married his childhood crush in March 2020. They have one fur-baby named Oakley. Oakley is a sheepadoodle who is both amazing and annoying at the same time. In Dr. Madhavarapu’s free time he enjoys doing various projects with his wife, exercising, watching sports (especially anything OU related), going to the zoo, and traveling. His favorite places that he has visited are India, Hawaii, Vancouver, New Zealand, and Iceland. He loves his family and especially misses his twIn-dian niece and nephew back in Oklahoma. He is board certified in sleep medicine and general pediatrics.
