The Evolution of Baby Boot Camp

For over 20 years, Blue Fish Pediatrics and Before the Stork have worked side by side to support Houston families with compassionate, evidence-based care.

The relationship began when Lisa Copeland, found of Before the Stork, met Dr. Jung and Dr. Pielop while working as a nurse in the Newborn Nursery at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Hospital. Impressed, she chose Blue Fish Pediatrics as her children’s healthcare provider. Inspired by their shared commitment to family-centered cared, Lisa later joined Blue Fish Pediatrics as an employee when they opened their Cypress location.

In 2011, Lisa founded Before the Stork to provide prenatal education and breastfeeding support. Over the years, Before the Stork and Blue Fish Pediatrics built a trusted collaboration, offering families an empowering, seamless care experience from pregnancy through early parenthood. One of those families included Melissa Flesher; a nurse and mom who became inspired by Lisa’s work, earned her Certified Breastfeeding Counselor credentials, and launched Go With The Flow Lactation Services. Upon Lisa’s retirement in August 2025, she confidently transferred her patients’ care to Melissa.

Blue Fish Pediatrics invited Melissa to continue the Baby Boot Camp prenatal education program, with Lisa remaining involved in an administrative capacity – continuing a trusted, 20-year tradition of patient-centered collaboration.
