Project Description

Dr. Carla Falco is a native Houstonian and wanted to become a physician since high school. After her graduation from Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart, she attended the University of Notre Dame and majored in theology and premedical studies. She graduated in 2006 from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, which was also her father’s alma mater. Her sister and father, both physicians in Houston, assisted at her medical school graduation.

She attended pediatric residency at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio where the winters made the choice to move back to Texas easy. She returned to Houston and completed a pediatric hospital medicine fellowship at Texas Children’s Hospital. She became board certified in pediatrics and worked as a pediatric hospitalist for 14 years where she cared for children with a variety of medical problems, taught pediatrics, mentored research projects, and was the medical director of a team for children with medical complexity. She is board certified in Pediatric Hospital Medicine. She was Associate Professor of Pediatrics before she transitioned to the outpatient setting to become a general pediatrician. She speaks Spanish proficiently.

She is excited to join the Blue Fish family to form relationships with families. She looks forward to supporting families as their children grow, develop, and learn to become the best versions of themselves. She also is eager to provide evidenced based medical care that supports the whole child and family. Given her background in hospital medicine, she is open to caring for children with medical complexity.

She met her loving husband John, also a native Houstonian, after moving back to Houston. They were happily married in 2013 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church where they are active members. They have two rescue dogs, Biscuit and Cocoa. Dr. Falco enjoys spending time with her nieces and nephews, baking, jogging, walking her dogs, and spending quality time with family and friends.
