Project Description

Dr. Jessica Malek was born in Syracuse, New York and lived in Louisiana for a few years before finally calling Texas home in 2003. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science Magna Cum Laude from Texas A&M University in 2012 with a major in Biomedical Engineering and a minor in Mathematics. She worked at Texas Heart Institute for 6 months prior to beginning medical school at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She returned to Houston in 2017 to begin her pediatric residency at The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston and had the honor of being asked to stay on as a Chief Resident for one year after graduating residency. She then started her dream job as a general pediatrician at Blue Fish Pediatrics in the Summer of 2021. She is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.

She married her college sweetheart – Matt, a chemical engineer – in 2015 and they endured a long-distance relationship/marriage throughout medical school and her internship. In 2019, they welcomed their sweet son, Daniel, into the world which gave Dr. Malek an entirely new perspective on being a pediatrician. They joyfully welcomed their daughter, Madeleine, in 2022. They attend Grace Bible Church in the Heights and in her free time she enjoys renovating her home, exploring the local parks/playgrounds in Houston, and traveling internationally. Her favorite trips so far have included Spain, France, and Australia where she got to scuba dive the Great Barrier Reef!

Dr. Malek has wanted to be a general pediatrician since she was a little girl. She is passionate about high quality, evidence-based care and helping parents navigate the sometimes nerve-wracking first few years of parenthood. She believes good preventative medicine is the foundation of a healthy life for children and can’t wait to meet your family.
