Project Description

Dr. Katherine “Kat” Lusk was born and raised outside of Minneapolis, Minnesota where she grew up as one of seven children. She moved to the great state of Texas in college to attend Texas A&M University as a member of the women’s soccer team where she earned a degree in Finance while completing her pre-med requirements. She later obtained her medical degree from the University of Texas at Houston (now referred to as McGovern Medical School) in 2012 during which time she had the honor of serving as her medical school class president for all four years. She completed her residency training in pediatrics at the University of Texas at Houston affiliated hospitals (Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, MD Anderson, and LBJ General Hospital) in 2015, earning the Intern of the Year Award, AOA honors, and the Marnie Rose Award. During her residency, Dr. Lusk had the privilege of precepting under Dr. Torn, and officially joined the Blue Fish family after completing her residency.

Dr. Lusk enjoys many aspects of pediatric medicine, but in particular enjoys helping first time parents navigate the joys and challenges of starting their parenting journey, and is passionate about taking a holistic approach to help families create healthful rhythms around eating habits, physical activity, sleep, education, and shared activities.

She and her husband, Jonathan, met while at Texas A&M and have welcomed three energetic and bright children. They consider parenting a great joy and privilege. The Lusk’s journey took them from Houston to just outside of Brenham where they have enjoyed the opportunity to spend more time in nature and welcomed goats, chickens, and a bernedoodle to their mix. They are members of Champion Fellowship Church where she enjoys volunteering in the children’s ministry. Dr. Lusk enjoys spending time outdoors, working out, cooking/feeding people, and most of all being a mom.
