Dr. Jenna Penland was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. She graduated from Vanderbilt University, where she majored in Chemistry. She then attended UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas and received her medical degree in 2014. She remained at UT Southwestern for her pediatric residency training. During her residency, she was awarded Intern of the Year as well as elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society by medical students for her dedication to teaching and compassionate bedside manner.
Following residency, Dr. Penland became board certified and worked as a Pediatric Hospitalist at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover, New Hampshire. As a Hospitalist, she cared for children with a wide variety of medical conditions and enjoyed teaching medical students and residents about pediatric medicine. After returning home to Texas, she joined Blue Fish Pediatrics in 2019.
Dr. Penland married her high school sweetheart, Nathan, in 2011. They have twin daughters, Harper and Addison, born in 2017, and a son, Jack, born in 2019. In her free time, Dr. Penland is an avid marathon runner and has competed in races all over the country, including the Boston Marathon. Her greatest joy, however, is being mama to her little ones.

Parking: There is free parking in Garage 3 on the Memorial Hermann Memorial City Hospital campus. The entrance to Garage 3 is easiest to find off Kingsride between Gessner and Frostwood, next to the Chase bank branch. There is usually ample parking the higher up you go in the garage. The pedestrian crosswalk is located on the 2nd floor of the garage and connects directly into 915 Gessner (our building). There is also parking on the ground floor of Garage 3, but it is intended for ER parking and costs $20 unless you are seen in the ER that day.

*Phone lines open at 8:30am. On weekdays for lunch, they are closed between 1:00pm and 2:30pm.

Sometimes, due to technical problems or the fact that the on call doctor is attending to another patient, your call may not be returned within 15 minutes. In this case please contact the page operator again and a doctor will return your call shortly.
During office hours, please call the office at (713) 467-1741 and ask to speak to a nurse.
After hours, please consult Health Topics on our website. If you have further questions or you need to contact one of our doctors, our office recording will give you the number to our page operator.
