Project Description

Dr. Claudia Hong was born and raised in the suburbs of San Francisco, California. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Southern California (Fight On!) where she double majored in Biology and Communication in 2004. After graduation, she worked at the Make-A-Wish Foundation, granting wishes of children who have life-threatening illnesses. Here, Claudia quickly realized that she wants to spend the rest of her life helping children and their families. So, she pursued this passion, and graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with dual degrees in Medicine and Master of Health Administration. She and her husband then moved to Houston for their respective medical residencies. She completed her pediatric residency training at the University of Texas Health Science Center Houston and joined Blue Fish thereafter. She is a board certified pediatrician.

Claudia loves caring for all kids, from babies to adolescents. She wants to encourage parents to be active participants in their children’s care by working together as a team to ensure that their children grow up happily and healthily. She is passionate about helping new parents navigate the exciting, yet daunting newborn period from breastfeeding to sleeping and everything in between. As a mom herself, Dr. Hong is able to anticipate questions/concerns and better advise parents on, not only illnesses, but also on parenting tips that she has personally learned along the way. It also helps that she’s an expert on all things Sky, Chase, PJ Masks, Moana, Anna & Elsa! Claudia speaks Cantonese as well as basic Mandarin and Spanish.

Dr. Hong and her husband are so blessed to have two young children, Ellie and Noah, whom they adore. Free-time is filled with church activities, parks with Ellie and Noah (Northshore has the best swings), walks with their two dachshunds (Peanut and Daisy), traveling, bbq-ing, and eating!
